Movies & Music on the Lawn @ Baton Rouge Gallery

Presented by Whole Foods Market, Movies & Music on the Lawn is back! On May 27, help BRG kick off the summer series with the slapstick comedy of Buster Keaton and the groove-powered soul of Alabaster Stag. Admission is $7 and includes free popcorn (BRG members get in free).

“The Cameraman” follows Buster (Buster Keaton), a sidewalk tintype portrait photographer who develops a crush on a MGM Newsreels secretary. To be near her, Buster empties his bank account to purchase an old film camera in an attempt to land a job as a filmer for MGM. Hilarious shenanigans ensue in his pursuit of the secretary in this fantastic dramatic comedy filled with guffaws and grins.

The groovy and soulful Baton Rouge-based band known as Alabaster Stag will perform their very own never-before-heard live score alongside the silent film. The groove-powered soul machine is comprised of talented performers from diverse musical backgrounds, combining elements of neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz, pop, and rock to create a fresh sound. They've opened for acts such as Big Freedia, Preservation Hall All-Stars, GIVERS, Anna Wise, and many more.
