Movies & Music on the Lawn @ Baton Rouge Gallery

**Full details at batonrougegallery.org/movies-music-on-the-lawn/**

Baton Rouge Gallery's popular summer film series, Movies & Music on the Lawn (presented by Whole Foods Market), will once again pair up iconic silent films with the best local, contemporary bands in our area. Each band will perform a never-before-heard score, live, while the film is projected on a huge inflatable outdoor screen on the lawn behind the gallery.

The screenings, which take place inside BREC's beautiful and historic City Park, begin at 8 p.m. (or sundown – whichever comes last) and the $7 price of admission includes free bottomless popcorn.

The 2017 season continues on July 29 with a presentation of Harold Lloyd's "The Freshman" and an original score from The Rakers, sponsored by BRG Board Member Debbie Daniel.

‘The Freshman’ (1925) tells the story of a college freshman desperately trying to fit in and impress his crush by joining the football team. Starring Harold Lloyd, Jobyna Ralston, and James Anderson, the audience is taken on a wildly funny ride through the lens of an eager “freshie” on campus, learning that it is always best to just be yourself. Hugely popular at the time of its release, ‘The Freshman’ sparked the craze for college films that lasted well beyond its era.

Baton Rouge’s original grown folks rock ‘n roll band, The Rakers, will perform their own one-of-a-kind soundtrack to ‘The Freshman.’ The five-piece band is fronted by Alex V. Cook and Lance Porter with Leon LeJeune, Lewis Roussel, and Anna Byars providing the rhythm. Reminiscent of The Drive-By Truckers and The Band, The Rakers’ sound is bound to provide a good rock ‘n roll time.
